Kitesurfing – Cairns, Australia

From our Captain Ross Miller:

In 1989 the search for the correct combination of board and kite began. Surfboard/kneeboard/single ski/surf ski, the list goes on. After fixing two straps to an old single fin surfboard, I would catch the bus to the beach and do a downwinder along the northern beaches of Cairns.

Now with 20 years of experience travelling along the Great Barrier Reef in search of the most idyllic kitesurfing locations, I have come up with the best of the best.

In 2015 Aroona was the support vessel and logistics team for the longest kitesurfing world record. A film, ‘Kite the Reef’ by Dean Miller, was made to commemorate the event. During this expedition, we mastered the most effective techniques for boat launches and created the best possible kiting experience. With the addition of our launching pontoon, our kitesurfers have so many options.

Our kite adventures are now the premier experience on the Great Barrier Reef, led by an expert team. Whether you are an accomplished kitesurfer or wanting to learn, we have a location to suit your skillset.
Reef lagoons, downwind runs along the outer reefs, waves, 2 km long sandbanks with absolutely flat water, your own private islands, you choose.
Your safety is a priority for us. At all times, we have a chase boat ready to pick you up and assist. We will always go above and beyond to make your trip the best trip you can experience in the Coral Sea.
Additionally, if you decide to bring a non-kiter along for a holiday, there are many other activities to choose from; spearfishing, bottom fishing, light tackle fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving, island hikes, or just relaxing on our luxury yacht.
