Accessibility

We aim to cater to all needs on Aroona and believe everyone should enjoy adventures on the reef.

Our crew are more than willing to help guests with disabilities. Given sufficient time and information, we can work to accommodate diverse needs and ensure all guests have an enjoyable and safe experience. This business upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy for all forms of discrimination,  and we offer an inclusive and warm environment for everyone. Our crew and guests often feel like they are saying goodbye to family by the end of the charter.

Some points to consider that may be useful in planning your adventures with Aroona include:

  • We recommend a carer to be present for anyone with a wheelchair binding disability, as our vessel has multiple stairs without chairlifts.

  • All crew members are trained in Senior First Aid and Oxygen & Resuscitation Therapy and practise a wide range of drills and scenarios often.

  • Aroona is moored at the Yorkeys Knob Marina which has accessible parking and a ramp access to the boat.

  • All cabins on Aroona have a bathroom, and as this accommodation is down a flight of stairs, another toilet is provided on the main deck aft – this allows easy access during the day, while our guests are enjoying adventures!

  • Aroona is well designed with spacious areas throughout the vessel, has side-walks around the exterior and railings and handles throughout the vessel.

  • Persons with a disability requiring an assistance animal are most welcome onboard.

  • Prior to hosting guests with a disability, Aroona’s crew will endeavour to undertake relevant awareness research, training and drills needed to improve safety and enjoyment for these guests.

  • Upon an enquiry relating to a guest with a disability any questions and requests will be answered in a timely and respectful manner.
