Join aroona for a fishing adventure in 2014!


Aroona will be based out of Weipa from April to June next year for 6 great weeks on the remote rivers of the Gulf. After an amazing time this year, we can’t wait to get back to some of the spectacular fishing spots we found on the Wenlock, Ducie and Archer Rivers.

4-day-charter-img1Perfect weather ensured a smooth steam up to Opal and Chinaman Reefs where the marine life was abundant and ever inquisitive. Guests got to experience some of that marine life up close and personal with 'Wally' the  resident Napoleon Maori Wrasse. A little intimidating to begin with as his large lips and big green body gracefully come in close for some petting. Guests soon relaxed and made friends with the gentle giant. The AquaJet underwater scooters were great fun, providing thrilling snorkel rides.

Getting around the top of Australia that is. March took us up the Ribbon Reefs with a film crew capturing the best of the Great Barrier Reef. As usual the Ribbons Reefs exceeded expectations with fantastic fish and coral life. The amazing weather made it permissible for exploration and we managed to find some great new dive sites that we look forward to using in future Ribbon Reef trips. It doesn't get much better than that!


Aroona Hosts Tourism Queensland to Present 'REEF LIVE'

Behind the scenes - Dome Letting In celebration of World Oceans Day we took the Great Barrier Reef to the world like never before – in a 12 hour YouTube Live event!
On June 7 from 10:00 AM (AEST) we joined a team of marine biologists as they explored what happens live on the Great Barrier Reef, and heard from the world’s leading marine experts, which highlighted why it is so important to protect our oceans.


Chinese New Year

Aroona has been busy celebrating the Chinese New Year taking out day trips to the beautiful Vlasoff Sand Cay and Reef.

First time visitors to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef enjoyed a stunning day. Starting the day off with catching a Mackerel on the way out to the reef, which was cooked up by chef Kyle for a delicious BBQ lunch.
